CHALLENGE 2: Create your logo and write your bios.
Leader Summary of Challenge:
In this challenge we had to write small bios about ourselves making some of the information up.
Later, we were assigned jobs. These jobs told us what we had to do thruoghout the challenge.
Our group had a little difficulty agreeing on our background for our logo. We helped each other with what we had trouble with.
We didn't know our usernames and passwords clearly.
Dr.Andrew (Disease Specialist):
I am Dr. Andrew am an orthopedic surgeon. I am 27 years old and work at North Shore LIJ in Glen cove, New York. I am very excited to have the opportunity to be a very special doctor that I am today. Summary of challenge:
In this challenge we had to take notes according to the Brain Pop video and come up with the most important notes of our group.
Most Important Notes:
. Everyone's body functions the same way
. Human bodies are more complicated than machinery
. Bones protect vital organs
. Bones hold your body up
. Other systems depend on the skeletal system

Challenge 5 6/11/09
In this challenge, we were given a patient and were asked to diagnose him. We first had to research some diseases to know a little about them in case our patient had that disease. We were told to create a medical chart about our patient, which is below.
Some difficulties we had were trying to figure out which disease he was more likely to have. We also had problems trying to write out the prognosis and splitting it. A success we had was finding out how to treat this disease.
We believe Justin has scoliosis. This disease is the curving of the spine which curves away from the middle or sideways.
This disease can be treated with a back brace, fusion surgery, or both. In this case we would recommend both.
Dr. Serina says that the outcome depends on the cause, location, and severity of the curve.
Dr. Andrew says that the greater the curve, the greater the chance the curve will get worse after growth has stopped.
Dr. Nick says after the surgery, keep the back brace on, until your back feels functional.
We think this prognosis is great, and we think you can lead a normal, healthy, active life after your recovery! We all recommend you stay positive and not to worry too much!
